Asahi Beverages needed to reduce their transport costs and the time spent scheduling their transport routes, and Biarri Supply Chain’s team responded. The solution needed to be effective for more than 100 truckloads of beverage products delivered by Asahi per day across over 1000 deliveries. Subsequently, Biarri Supply Chain went on to save Asahi 10% of its transport costs. Not only that, but by adopting Biarri’s vehicle routing tool, Asahi was also able to provide better customer service through improved adherence to agreed delivery time windows. Last year, Asahi achieved a 6% reduction in kilometres travelled and a 14% reduction in truck trips, despite an increase in unit sales, with less human planning effort.
The solution was delivered in weeks and continues to be expanded with the Asahi business.
SA Pathology and Primary Healthcare needed to manage their time-sensitive vehicle routes with greater efficiency. They are responsible for collecting pathology specimens from their many customers several times a day. Additionally, their collections needed to be timed to ensure the specimens are delivered to one of a number of labs within limited hours of being drawn. Creating these routes manually was time-consuming and complex for supervisors.
Biarri Supply Chain partnered with SA Pathology to develop a scheduling and routing engine to optimise the collection activities while complying with the constraints and rules in place. Biarri’s Transport Planning Software produced routes which reduced the number of drivers by around 13% and reduced the weekly shift hours by 41 hours. Idle driver time was also reduced by 46% by the generation of more efficient shifts and routes.
The solution freed supervisors from the time-consuming task of having to manually generate routes and reduced transport costs through the creation and implementation of efficient vehicle routes on an ongoing basis.
